Zhang Xinsheng said that since the reform and opening up 30 years ago, China's education has shown some new features in the field of opening up: facing the world has become an important aspect of various schools and curriculum reform systems.

At the same time, cooperation and exchanges with foreign countries have gradually changed from one-way demand to two-way demand. The strategic layout of education opening has formed an open pattern of "focusing on big countries, giving priority to neighboring countries, taking developing countries as the foundation and multilateral international organizations as the important stage". In addition, China's education department has established a relatively stable educational consultation mechanism with foreign educational cooperation departments, and educational cooperation and exchange are developing in the direction of institutionalization and mechanism.

Zhang Xinsheng said that China has become a popular source country for overseas students. From 1978 to 2007, the total number of Chinese students studying abroad has reached 22 1 10,000, maintaining a sustained and stable development trend. At the same time, the growth rate of returned talents at all levels has exceeded the growth rate of studying abroad, which is a very gratifying phenomenon.

According to Zhang Xinsheng, at present, China has established educational cooperation and exchange relations with 188 countries and regions in the world and 28 international organizations such as UNESCO, and signed and implemented bilateral and multilateral educational cooperation agreements 154, and 77 intergovernmental projects are being implemented. China has signed mutual recognition agreements with 33 countries and regions.

Zhang Xinsheng also introduced two major breakthroughs in the field of education in China in recent years. He said that vocational and technical education has entered the fast lane of employment-oriented and work-integrated development. In 2007, the number of students in secondary vocational education reached 8 million, and the situation of coordinated development of vocational education and general education was initially formed. In addition, under the leadership of the Central Committee and the State Council, we will vigorously promote educational equity. In the stage of compulsory education in rural areas, all students are exempt from tuition and fees and provide textbooks free of charge. Providing living allowances for students from poor families, generally benefiting 65.438+0.5 billion students from poor families and 7.8 million boarders. At the same time, the national scholarship system has been improved.

After China's successful bid for the Olympic Games, activities to popularize the Olympic spirit were carried out among all the students. As for the construction of Olympic venues, since 2002, a total of 16 schools in Beijing have undertaken the construction of 6 competition venues and 23 training venues for the 2008 Olympic Games.
