The national defense education law was promulgated and implemented 200 1. In order to popularize and strengthen national defense education, carry forward patriotism, and promote national defense construction and socialist spiritual civilization construction, the National Defense Education Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) is formulated in accordance with the National Defense Law and the Education Law. The 21st meeting of the Ninth NPC Standing Committee in People's Republic of China (PRC) was adopted on April 28th, 2006, and promulgated by the President of the People's Republic of China, which shall come into force as of the date of promulgation.

The main contents of the National Defense Education Law are as follows:

1, the position, principles and guidelines of national defense education. National defense education is the foundation of building and consolidating national defense and an important way to enhance national cohesion and improve the quality of the whole people. National defense education adheres to the principles of participation by the whole people, long-term persistence and practical results, and implements the principles of combining regular education with centralized education, combining universal education with key education, and combining theoretical education with behavioral education;

2, the leadership system of national defense education. The State Council led national defense education, and the Central Military Commission cooperated with the State Council to carry out national defense education. Local people's governments at all levels lead the work of national defense education in their respective administrative areas, and resident military organs assist and support local people's governments in carrying out national defense education. National defense education institutions are specifically responsible for the planning, organization, guidance and coordination of national defense education; Local national defense education institutions at or above the county level are specifically responsible for the organization, guidance, coordination and inspection of national defense education within their respective administrative areas;
