Yongzhou Normal University is a public full-time ordinary college approved by Hunan Provincial People's Government and put on record by People's Republic of China (PRC) Ministry of Education. It is a national national defense education characteristic school and a standardized demonstration school of language and writing work in Hunan Province.

Yongzhou Normal University was established in 2020 by integrating the teacher education resources of Daoxian Normal School and Qiyang Normal School.
This school originated in the early days. One of the county teachers' schools was entrusted by Hengyang District Commissioner's Office and reported to Hunan Provincial Government for approval. The other Qiyang teachers' school was developed on the basis of "Qiyang Teachers' Training Course in Hengyang District" founded by Hengyang District Administrative Office in April. 1979.
