Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, founded in June 1952, is one of the earliest aviation institutions of higher learning in New China. 1978 was identified as a national key university by the State Council; 198 1 was approved by the State Council to become the first batch of universities in China with the right to confer doctoral degrees; 1996 entered the national "2 1 1 project" construction; In 2000, the Graduate School was established with the approval of the Ministry of Education; 20 1 1 became the key construction university of "985 Engineering Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform".

20 17 entered the national "double first-class" construction sequence, and the existing three disciplines of aerospace science and technology, mechanics, control science and engineering were selected into the second round of "first-class" construction list.
