Chongqing University of Arts and Science is a full-time undergraduate college sponsored by Chongqing Municipal People's Government. Its predecessors, Chongqing Normal University and Yuzhou Institute of Education, were founded in 1976 and 1972 respectively. In May of 20001year, the two universities merged to form Yuxi College; In April 2005, it was renamed Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences.

The school is located in Yongchuan District, Chongqing, with two campuses: Honghe and Xinghu. The campus covers an area of 1.767 mu, with a building area of 7 1.000 square meters, a collection of books 1.97 million copies, and the total value of teaching instruments and equipment is 350 million yuan.
