Suzhou University has three campuses: Tianci Zhuang Campus, Dushu Lake Campus and Yangcheng Lake Campus, covering an area of 3,739 mu and a building area of 1.66 million square meters. Suzhou University is a provincial key comprehensive university in Jiangsu Province, the national key construction university of "Project 2 1 1" and the first batch of key construction universities of "Project 20 1 1". Its predecessor can be traced back to Soochow University founded by 1900, Wuxi College of Chinese Studies founded by 1920 and Wuxi College of Chinese Studies founded by 65420.
1952 Two years ago, the former Jiangsu Institute of Education, China College of Literature (formerly Wuxi Sinology School) and National Institute of Social Education merged, and the related departments of arts and sciences of Soochow University merged to form Sunan Normal College in the former site of Soochow University. In the same year, it was named Jiangsu Normal University, and 1982 was renamed Suzhou University. Later, Suzhou Sericulture College, Suzhou Silk Institute of Technology and Suzhou Medical College were merged into Suzhou University.
