He is one of the representatives of contemporary oil painting in China and the most influential artist, theorist and educator in contemporary China. He combined the essence of European classical oil painting with China's national art tradition, and founded the neo-classical oil painting school in China. His artistic practice and thoughts have influenced a large number of oil painters in China since the mid-1980s.

Chang Shanna, 193 1 was born in Lyon, France, and is the daughter of Chang Shuhong, the "guardian of Dunhuang". She is a famous art design educator, art designer, professor and national expert with outstanding contributions.
