How to treat the phenomenon of attaching importance to knowledge and neglecting literacy in current Chinese studies education?
If you want to cultivate the accomplishment of Chinese studies, you must first know what Chinese studies are. The present significance of Sinology is relative to that of Western Learning after the introduction of Western Learning to the East, so Sinology is indisputably "China's inherent cultural knowledge". Therefore, in a broad sense, China's ancient and modern culture and scholarship include China's ancient history, thought, philosophy, geography, politics, economy, painting and calligraphy, music, Yi-ology, martial arts, medicine, astrology, architecture and so on. They are all involved in Chinese studies. The name of "Sinology" began in the late Qing Dynasty. At that time, European and American academics entered China under the names of "New Learning" and "Western Learning". In contrast, people call China's inherent knowledge "old learning", "middle school" or "national studies". Sinology can also refer to China's ancient theory. Among them, the pre-Qin philosophers are the representatives, and their thoughts and theories have far-reaching influence on the traditional culture of China. They formed the thoughts of military strategists, legalists, Mohists, Confucianists and Taoists. These thoughts discuss how to govern the country from different aspects. It had a far-reaching influence on the rulers of past dynasties, and gradually formed China's traditional cultural concept.

At present, college students are basically unfamiliar with Chinese studies and don't understand the theories of some sages. One of the reasons is that society does not pay enough attention to Chinese studies. Although the country has been trying to implement it in recent years, the effect is limited. So what is the reason? As the backbone of the future society, how should college students improve their Chinese studies?

In my opinion, the most important thing is to treat Chinese culture correctly. Only with a correct understanding can we fully promote Chinese studies among college students. Some people think that reading Chinese classics is old-fashioned, that is, reading Confucian classics, that is, reading three-character classics and disciples' rules. These misunderstandings must be eliminated. So what are the classics of Chinese studies? China's classics mainly include ethical classics, such as Three Amethyst, Disciples' Rules, Qian Wen Zi and Hundred Family Names. Historical classics: Shangshu, Historical Records, Learning from the Same Resources, etc. Literary masterpieces: University, The Doctrine of the Mean, Tang Poetry, Song Poetry, Yuan Qu, Ming and Qing Novels, etc. Philosophical classics: Analects of Confucius, Zhouyi, etc. The classics of Chinese studies are the immortal spirit, the guide of life, the inheritance of civilization and the prescription of education. From the time point of view, everything before modern times is; From the content, we can't look at the classics with the eyes of modern people. For example, Saint Amethyst said, "Meng Mu once chose his neighbor, but his son didn't learn and broke the loom", and "The book has its own golden house, and the book has its own Yan Ruyu". Classics have dross, but they can't be completely denied. Some people say that "Three Kingdoms" is full of intrigue, and "Water Margin" will always be "killing people and stealing goods". A Dream of Red Mansions, as Lu Xun commented, is the Book of Changes. Taoism thinks this is fornication; What a gifted scholar can see is lingering; What revolutionaries see is full; A gossip sees the secrets of the court. Despite these problems, we are still advocating reading the "four classic novels". The correct way is to take its essence and discard its dross.

Should we treat Chinese studies with a pragmatic and utilitarian attitude, or should we infiltrate our lives with the culture and spirit of Chinese studies? This really needs our discussion and thinking. In the eyes of China people, Sinology is a set of social norms, ethics and moral concepts, such as "self-cultivation, keeping the family in order, governing the country and leveling the world". Historians say that history can only survive and breathe in the human world, and we must constantly return to ourselves, recall and reflect all past experiences in history. As a tradition, sinology is a historical creation and existence, a cultural schema that we must practice, and a spiritual wealth invented and accumulated by our ancestors from generation to generation. Although we sometimes have a time distance and psychological distance from this traditional culture, it is the foundation of our history and culture, and its factors are full of our blood, which constitutes the objective environment for our spiritual growth. So, fundamentally speaking, we are all beneficiaries of it.

So, what practical actions can help improve college students' Chinese learning literacy? First of all, from the school, we can add Chinese studies to the compulsory course, improve students' attention, and choose teachers with strength and critical opinions to teach this course. Explain the whole outline of Chinese studies, and then you can offer elective courses. Students can choose what they want to know in depth according to their hobbies.

Secondly, it is also a good way to let students form their own Chinese studies societies, read collectively, hold cross-school Chinese studies exchanges, or invite famous experts and scholars to give lectures at the school, so that students have enough opportunities to contact Chinese studies.

Finally, we should have a sense of mission as a messenger to inherit China's traditional culture and Chinese studies, actively familiarize ourselves with and learn Chinese studies, and apply and spread China culture to more people in our lives. Only in this way can we really improve the quality of Chinese studies.
