The Development Center of Basic Education Curriculum and Textbooks of the Ministry of Education is an institution with independent legal personality directly under the Ministry of Education, which mainly undertakes the research, development and evaluation of basic education curriculum and textbooks. Duties and tasks are:
1. Organize the research on the textbook construction of basic education courses;
2. Participate in the formulation of national curriculum standards for basic education;
3. Organize the research and development of experimental teaching materials for basic education;
4. Organize the experimental work and training of basic education curriculum materials;
5. To undertake and organize the evaluation of basic education courses, textbooks, teaching methods and other basic education and teaching fields;
6. Organize the development and research of foreign basic education textbooks, and undertake the international exchange and project cooperation of basic education textbooks;
7. Compile teaching materials reflecting China's culture, history and geography for foreign countries, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions as required.
