Student-oriented education is a large-scale educational reform practice driven by project research, which is presided over by Professor Guo, doctoral supervisor of South China Normal University and director of Guangdong Institute of Educational Science. Since 1999, it has been the key discipline of philosophy and social sciences in Guangdong Province in the Ninth Five-Year Plan, and later became the key discipline of the Ministry of Education. At present, the key project of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan of the Ministry of Education is "Promoting Quality Education by Student-oriented Education and Promoting Education Balance" and the key project of philosophy and social sciences in Guangdong Province is "Promoting the Balanced Development of Rural Education by Student-oriented Education".

After 12 years of research, the student-oriented education community has flourished, from the initial 15 experimental schools to more than 200 schools now, covering Guangdong, Shandong, Hubei, Guizhou, Liaoning, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Yunnan, Anhui, Hong Kong, Macao and other places, and has achieved rich theoretical and practical results. Many weak schools have been transformed into socially recognized schools. In the practice of student-based education, teachers fully realize the true meaning of education, enjoy the fun of education and the magic of children's vitality, and get good professional development.
