The school's predecessor was the Department of Finance and Materials of Railway Corps Engineering College, which was built in 1950. In 2000, with the approval of the people's government of Hebei Province, it was transformed into a higher vocational and technical college, which once belonged to the Ministry of Railways and China Railway Construction Corporation. In June 2005, it was handed over to the people's government of Hebei Province for management; May 20 10 became the first batch of national demonstration higher vocational colleges.
