Engine oil-engine lubricating oil As we all know, every time our vehicle is "healthy", we need to use a maintenance product. What is lubricating oil? What are the classifications of lubricating oils? How should we choose lubricating oil?
1. What is lubricating oil?
It can play the role of lubrication and wear reduction, auxiliary cooling and cooling, sealing and leakage prevention, rust prevention and corrosion prevention, shock absorption and buffering for the engine. Known as the "blood" of the car. Engine oil consists of base oil and additives. Base oil is the main component of lubricating oil, which determines its basic properties. Additives can make up for and improve the shortcomings of base oil properties and give some new properties, which is an important part of lubricating oil.
Second, the classification of lubricating oil
According to API classification, S stands for gasoline engine lubricating oil and stands for diesel engine lubricating oil.
Third, the choice of lubricating oil
Viscosity grade: winter oil brands classified by SAE lubricating oil viscosity are: 0W, 5W, 10W, 15W, 20W, 25W, and the symbol w represents winter. The smaller the number before W, the smaller the low-temperature viscosity, the better the low-temperature fluidity and the lower the applicable minimum temperature.
The summer oil brands of SAE lubricating oil viscosity classification are: 20, 30, 40 and 50 respectively. The larger the number, the greater the viscosity and the higher the applicable maximum temperature.
SAE lubricating oil viscosity classification The brands of general-purpose oils in winter and summer are: 5W-20, 5W-30, 5W-40, 5W-50, 10W-20, 10W-30, 10W-40, 10W-50 respectively. 20W-20, 20W-30, 20W-40, 20W-50, the smaller the number representing the winter part (the lower the applicable minimum temperature), the larger the number representing the summer part (the higher the applicable maximum temperature), and the wider the applicable temperature range.
Quality grade: an English letter is added after API S and an English letter is added after API C, indicating gasoline engine oil and diesel engine oil respectively. The lower the alphabetical order, the higher the grade.
