The school, formerly known as Beiyang Medical College, was founded in Tianjin on 1894 by Li Hongzhang, governor of Zhili and minister of Beiyang. By 2022, Changchun University of Traditional Chinese Medicine will rank 278th in the 2022ABC ranking of private universities in China.

There are five disciplines in the school, mainly Chinese medicine, with the coordinated development of medicine, engineering, management, law and literature. Anhui University of Traditional Chinese Medicine was founded in 1959, and its predecessor was Anhui Advanced Class of Traditional Chinese Medicine founded in 1952. 65438-0959 Anhui Provincial Government officially approved the establishment of Anhui College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. 1970, Anhui College of Traditional Chinese Medicine was merged into Anhui Medical College. 1975, the Ministry of Education approved the restoration of Anhui College of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
