After-school service in Shunyi primary and secondary schools in Beijing was extended to 7 pm. What is after-school service?
In a letter to parents of students in compulsory education in Shunyi District, Shunyi District Education Committee stated that in order to meet the custody needs of parents who can't pick up students normally due to reasons such as working late, the unit is far away from home, no one at home, and family encounters special circumstances, the school will extend the after-school service time, and the end time will not exceed 19:00 in principle.

So what is after-school service? After-school service is a social activity due to the contradiction between parents' off-duty time and children's off-duty time. Parents get off work late and children get off work early, which brings difficulties for families to pick up and drop off their children, help them with their homework and guide them to participate in sports, art and entertainment activities. Parents lack time to cultivate their children's interest in reading, music, art and sports after class.

This concept was first put forward by the General Office of the Ministry of Education on February 24th, 20 17 in the Guiding Opinions on Doing a Good Job in After-school Services for Primary and Secondary School Students. Based on the premise that children leave school early and parents leave work late, developing after-school service for primary and secondary school students is an important measure to promote the healthy growth of students and help parents solve the difficulty of picking up and dropping off students on time. It is also a livelihood project to further improve the ability of educational services and let the people have more sense of gain and happiness.

In the past, parents usually put their children in off-campus custody institutions or training institutions, so that off-campus institutions can provide custody services or interest class services during the period from after class to before parents leave work. Under the guidance and supervision of the education department, schools can now introduce qualified off-campus training institutions to provide after-school services for primary and secondary school students.

Therefore, the location of hosting has changed from off-campus to on-campus.

However, this service is not free. Schools can charge after-school service fees according to the income and consumption level of local urban and rural residents and referring to the after-school service standards of surrounding cities. The city's primary and secondary school after-school service charges are charged according to the standard of 4 yuan per student per class hour, and the maximum price management is implemented.

No more than 2 class hours per day. If the length of after-school service exceeds 1, less than 2 class hours will be counted as 1 class hours, and more than 2 class hours will be counted as 2 class hours. The highest term of primary school will not exceed 600 yuan, and junior high school and senior high school will not exceed 400 yuan.
