Fujian Putian Maritime Vocational and Technical School was founded in 2002. It is a full-time secondary vocational and technical school approved by Putian Education Bureau and a professional training institution for maritime personnel approved by Maritime Safety Administration of Ministry of Communications. It has also been recognized as a secondary training institution for fishermen in Fujian Province by the Fujian Provincial Department of Oceans and Fisheries.
