Selection process
Every year, Tsinghua University selects 50 Yao Ban students from 3,000 elites in the country, and the competition is fierce. In 2065438+2008, only 6 students passed the college entrance examination and did not take the exam, and the other 44 students were selected through re-examination or competition. Most of these students have participated in national team competitions, including mathematical olympiad, physical olympiad and information olympiad.
Founder Professor Yao Qizhi
Yao Ban was founded by Professor Yao Qizhi, a Turing Prize winner. He is a top computer scientist in China. He once taught in the United States and was awarded the title of Academician of the National Academy of Sciences. In 2000, he won the Turing Award and became the only Chinese winner in history. Turing Prize is known as the Nobel Prize in computer science, and only one scientist wins this honor every year, which shows the outstanding achievements of Professor Yao Qizhi.
