The "ice altar" is located in the north of the Capital Gymnasium. Because of its beautiful shape, it looks like a curling cross-section from high altitude and a short speed skating runway from the side, so it is named "ice altar". At the same time, "ice altar" also means popularizing ice and snow sports and gestating the highest competitive level of related projects.
The total construction area of "freezer" is 33,220 ㎡. The stadium has six floors above ground, one underground and two local floors. The height of the main building is 30 meters. Among them, the first floor ice rink is the first standard curling training venue in China, and the third floor ice rink is the short track speed skating training venue during the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, which will provide a professional training venue for the national team. The venue also includes facilities such as scientific research and medical rehabilitation, athletes' dormitories, restaurants, athletes' physical training and medical rehabilitation, which will provide all-round logistics support for athletes.
The "freezer" project won the gold medal of Beijing Structural Great Wall Cup, and was rated as a green safety model site in Beijing. Next, I will participate in the selection of Beijing Great Wall Cup, Luban Award and Green Technology Demonstration Project of Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
According to the plan, the Winter Olympics Center is rebuilding and expanding the existing Capital Gymnasium, Capital Skating Hall, No.1 Sports Complex and Athletes' Apartment, and together with the newly-built Winter Olympics Center comprehensive training hall "freezer" and Winter Olympics Center, it will form the first sports park with a competition venue, three training venues, two supporting facilities and six main buildings as the core. In the future, it will become a high-level ice training and scientific research base and a mass ice and snow sports activity center in China.
