Harbin Shipping School belongs to technical secondary school. It was established on 1984 with the approval of the Ministry of Communications and the Ministry of Education. It is a national regular full-time general maritime technical secondary school and a key technical secondary school in Heilongjiang Province. It is one of the first schools to pass the "Quality System of Seafarers' Education and Training" of the National Maritime Administration, and has the qualification of fulfilling the international convention STCW78/95, and is recognized by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) as having the qualification of seafarers' education and training.
