This paper mainly introduces the competition between sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB) and methanogenic bacteria (MPB), and the inhibition of sulfate reduction by microorganisms to produce sulfide, and also introduces the anaerobic digestion technology for treating high sulfate wastewater at present.

Based on the competition between sulfate reducing bacteria and methanogenic bacteria and the toxicity of sulfide to methanogenic bacteria, the inhibition mechanism of sulfate reduction on methanogenic bacteria activity in anaerobic treatment of high sulfate organic wastewater was discussed, and the current anaerobic treatment process of high sulfate organic wastewater was introduced.
