Seafarers are divided into ordinary seafarers and senior seafarers. Ordinary seafarers have to pass four courses, which are collectively called "four certificates", namely, ship rescue, fire fighting, first aid and boat and raft manipulation. Senior seafarers are divided into two parts: navigation technology and engine management. Maritime professional courses include:

Maritime English, English listening and conversation, maritime duty and collision avoidance, maritime meteorology, oceanography, structure and setting of maritime cargo ships, computer application, chart operation, ship positioning, route design, landing error measurement, maritime instruments, cargo stowage and fastening, sailor technology, basic safety, advanced fire fighting, mastering first aid, boat and raft training, radar and GMDSS operation.

Marine engineering major:

Marine English, English listening and speaking, marine engineering foundation, marine auxiliary equipment, marine diesel engine, marine maintenance, marine electrician, ship operation management, computer application, power station practice, machine maintenance and operation management, electrical technology, metalworking practice, basic safety, electrical first-class fire protection, proficient first aid, boat and raft training.
