"China Table Tennis Association Training Center" 1996 was approved by the State Sports General Administration and established by the Table Tennis Badminton Management Center of the State Sports General Administration and Shanghai Institute of Physical Education. The unveiling ceremony of the center was held in Shanghai Institute of Physical Education on April 20th, 1996.

Xu Yinsheng, Vice Mayor of Shanghai and Deputy Director of the State Sports Commission, Ma Qingyong, Director of the Training Bureau of the State Sports Commission, Director of the Science and Education Department of the State Sports Commission, Zhang, Deputy Director of the Table Tennis Management Center, and Li, Deputy Director of the China Table Tennis Team, attended the unveiling ceremony and unveiled the center.
