In the 1980s, the reform and opening up had just begun, and the academic atmosphere had just recovered. Professor Xia Enlan first introduced the theory of labor process, and now it has become the common sense of gynecologists, such as the first stage of labor and the second stage of labor, all of which can not be separated from Professor Xia's professional contribution. Then, Professor Xia Enlan successively made academic achievements such as planned delivery and systematic perinatal monitoring. Until the early 1990s, Xia Enlan took the lead in trying hysteroscopic surgery to stop bleeding successfully in China. Hysteroscopy was born in China, and Professor Xia is known as the mother of hysteroscopy in China. Professor Xia Enlan, born in 1932, is currently a professor and doctoral supervisor of obstetrics and gynecology at Capital Medical University, director of the Asian branch of the International Hysteroscopy Training Center, executive director of the Academic Committee of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Chinese Medical Association, deputy head of the Gynecological Endoscopy Group of the Gynecological Society of the Chinese Medical Association, member of the American Association of Gynecological Laparoscopic Physicians, lifelong member of the International Gynecological Endoscopy Association, and editorial board members of the Chinese Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the China Journal of Practical Obstetrics and Gynecology. He won 20 scientific and technological progress awards from the Ministry of Health, Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, Beijing Municipal Health Bureau and the western region government, and enjoyed special allowances from the State Council. He is the first expert in China who introduced obstetrics and gynecology endoscope into clinical practice.

In the initial hysteroscopy experiment, Professor Xia used animals, as well as isolated uterine specimens, without instruments, and borrowed surgical cystoscopy. However, Professor Xia Enlan overcame many difficulties and finally founded China's own hysteroscopy technology. For more than ten years, Professor Xia has performed more than 6,000 operations in the hysteroscopy center, and her exquisite technology has made her the patron saint of the palace of life. We all know that only a few years ago, combined hysteroscopy and laparoscopy appeared in the world, but we didn't know that Professor Xia Enlan was one of the China experts who advocated exploring this technology all over the world.
