What's the difference between MC and DJ?
By DJ, we mean a DJ who works in a disco or disco. That's the person who stands in the DJ audio console at the front of the dance floor and is responsible for playing disco music and driving the atmosphere! When there is no disco music, he is just an ordinary person; As soon as the music starts, DJ is God! God who dominates people's emotions! Speaking of domestic DJs, we have to talk about domestic discos and dance halls. Without this soil, it is impossible to grow this kind of naive seedling of domestic DJ! In China, it is probably 1987. I believe young people now rarely know what break dancing is. It's hard to imagine how embarrassing it would be if someone performed break dancing in today's ballroom ... but there is no doubt that the popularity of break dancing made it possible for professional discos to appear and laid a broad mass foundation for the development of discos! Break dancing music is also the cause and predecessor of the development of dance music in China! After more than five years of break dancing, 1992, the first disco ballroom in China finally appeared (then called disco square). It is the "JJ" disco square on Yan 'an Road in Shanghai. Since 1990, small dance halls have appeared in some places in Shanghai, mainly playing discos, but they can only be regarded as predecessors. The real discos should start with JJ. JJ's boss is from Taiwan Province, surnamed Ma. Boss Ma is the first person to open a disco in Chinese mainland, and he is also a good businessman. Later, he opened JJ in Beijing and JJ in Guangzhou. JJ disco opened in an unprecedented grand occasion, with the number of people exceeding 1000 every day, especially on weekends and holidays. There are foreign DJs, people who have never heard of crazy music, people with super avant-garde layout, and countless crazy customers. Until today, I can't forget my feelings when I first walked into a disco ... JJ in Shanghai has been in operation for more than two years and has been popular for more than two years. By the time of 1994, all major cities in China had completely burned out the craze for discos. Beijing, Guangzhou, Xi, Shenyang ... Discos have become holy places for young people, and mainlanders have slowly begun to appear on the DJ stage. Mainlanders first entered the DJ stage as supporting actors. Leading dance, lighting, MC (called "host" in many places at that time) and so on. So there were many excellent MC (hosts) in China at that time. The foreigner DJ is responsible for playing music, and the mainland MC is responsible for driving the atmosphere. Slowly, the earliest MC became the earliest DJ in Chinese mainland. So most of these DJs are versatile. They can play discs (that is, music), and they can even promote the atmosphere. Even many DJs dance very well, and many DJs can host the lucky draw or something! At that time, many cities didn't have discos, let alone DJs. Therefore, at that time, if the boss of any city wanted to open a disco, he often had to dig in the discos of those big cities. So as long as the DJ was good, he didn't have to go anywhere, just waiting for someone else to dig. The salary of a DJ who is willing to change jobs has risen rapidly, with one jump and one promotion. Another important role that I have to say is the "DJ Company" at that time. The earliest DJ company in China was also born in Shanghai. A company called "BPM" plays DJ company, and the boss's surname is Yan. Another company is called "Crossline" DJ Studio, and its boss is Wei. Both of them were very formal, which was the cradle of domestic DJ at that time. BPM is just a DJ and MC agent. Specially responsible for sending DJs to large discos all over the country. DJs sent abroad generally provide round-trip air tickets and accommodation is arranged in star-rated hotels. Wages are all above ten thousand yuan. Especially in the north, the company was famous at that time. "Crossline" is working on more projects. Vinyl records, professional dance music CDs, DJ talent agents, equipment sales. It is more expensive. However, DJs who can go to Shanghai specially generally don't care about the price. The life cycle of "cross hair" is longer than that of "BPM". The main reason is that the growth and learning speed of DJ in Chinese mainland is too fast, and there are fewer and fewer places where DJ companies need to introduce DJ. It was not until 200 1 that the communication line in Shanghai gradually faded out of the DJ market. DJ started from noble to civilian, which is the inevitable law of economic development. DJ began to become no longer mysterious, and more and more young people stepped onto the DJ platform and started a wandering career like "urban cowboy". In fact, as a group of early DJs in Chinese mainland, many people can't understand what the word "DJ" means to us. "DJ" is a dream for us, a dream of self-improvement, a dream of continuous transcendence, a dream recognized by more people and even the whole world, and a dream of dialogue with the world. No one who dreams of becoming a DJ wants to wake up, but many people want to wake up. The original meaning of "MC" is the person who controls the microphone! From the earliest MC to the present, MC should have many talents, such as being able to drive the atmosphere, being able to host, being able to rap and improvise. He is not only a performer, but also an emissary of hip-hop culture, so his performance content and form can be divided into different fields and factions, such as east coast, west coast, non-mainstream and so on.
