Skills 1: teaching
Some people may ask, what does IE have to do with teaching? I can say that this is very important. One of the most important things IE does in the company is to turn her own ideas into others'. If you have strong teaching ability, you will find it very useful!
In addition, the bosses of many companies will use IE people to open new lines, make new products and design new assembly lines. If you think that you can set up new lines as long as you learn line balance and time measurement well, then ... you will find how many new employees are online. New employees mean that you have a lot to teach them. If you don't have a good teaching ability, you will feel powerless, and the result will of course be a bit tragic.
"What? New online employees have foreman teaching! " All right, I'll tell you something. First, people can say that this is your dominant thing, and people just listen to your command; Second, not all foremen in a line have good teaching ability, so you put the heavy responsibility of teaching on others, so only God knows whether this line is good or not. What achievements, bonuses, maybe cool ...
So, in a word, teaching is very important. You are still doing IE, so try to improve your teaching ability!
Skill 2: Proficient in Microsoft spreadsheet MS Excel.
Another skill that many people want to ask, why learn fine skills? Ok, please look at the picture below:
In our IE practical work, we often need to use EXCEL to calculate standard working hours and calculate personnel efficiency. EXCEL especially needs to explain the use of various formulas and the production of various charts, line charts and histograms. If you are very proficient in these, you will find that some things are as simple as that.
Tip 3: Good regular communication (with superiors and colleagues in the same trench)
I think many people will agree with this, but I find that many people don't know the truth. They think IE is an engineering class, so it is not important.
Communication is really not something that can be done well by talking. Good communication skills come from constant practice and accumulation. To a certain extent, we can naturally do it well. The main way of communication is written communication, that is, writing documents, and now email (paperless). Good language organization can make you get twice the result with half the effort. This professional and equal colleague, everyone can practice sending emails at ordinary times.
In addition, there is meeting communication, which is more difficult, mainly depending on a person's overall grasp, and is also often used. If you want to be in charge of a project and need to assign tasks, you must use it, otherwise a good case will hit you. I suggest you do more exercises in this field at ordinary times, and you can participate in some club activities to practice.
There is also the ability to report, which is used when reporting to the boss. That's all that matters. It is more important to do things well and hand in the report, because a good report can greatly enlarge your grades, so do your usual academic report, academic year report and final graduation report well, and you will find that you have not paid for it in vain.
Tip 4: put TOC (constraint theory? Constraint theory).
Some schools can teach TOC, while others can't. Whether they teach or not, I suggest that everyone should study hard, because in the actual factory environment, what matters is not how much one person can achieve, but how much you can achieve under certain constraints.
Personally, I think TOC in IE can be mainly used in the following aspects: 1. Time, 2. Quality and 3. Cost. These three are the most important, of course, there are limitations of equipment, manpower, venue and so on. So don't let go at any time. The resources you can use are limited, and reasonable distribution and utilization are the key.
Tip 5: Learn the tricks of IE from children (always ask "why" in everything, always full of curiosity and challenging spirit)
This seems to be a habit rather than a skill, but it is actually a very important skill.
Among the seven methods of IE, one is called "Five-Five Method", which literally means "5*5W 1H method", and it can also be called "questioning creation method", that is, the method of finding the real root and cause of the problem through systematic questioning.
I often see some engineers solve an anomaly, find a waste, and easily make improvement measures. Well, let's try it by asking questions. There are often many unexpected discoveries.
Besides, ECRS is really easy to use and can be used to confirm when we ask questions, for example, can this process be completed? What is wrong with not doing it? Can you do less action? Is there anything unusual about this case? Will it affect the quality? Can you remove a few actions from this bottleneck? How to open it? What kind of reorganization can be carried out after demolition? Does this job need staffing? Can you arrange another person with insufficient workload to handle it part-time?
In short, questioning is systematic and technical. You can try to cultivate this habit at ordinary times. At work, you will find that you can often solve many problems that others can't. Have the opportunity to practice more.
Tip 6: fear the details.
How to start with this? Ok, let's talk about the paradox of Gu Dui first (please ask a friend Baidu for this). In the past, I was careless about some small things, thinking that only a large number of things that happened frequently and cost a lot were worthy of our IE's analysis and improvement. But after discovering this thing, I began to pay attention to the details, and then slowly made good achievements in this respect.
Let me tell you a real case that happened some time ago.
Last month, when I passed by the General Affairs Department, I saw a demand list for cabinets in the production base.
I asked how to buy a cupboard and what to put in it, but the answer was not clear.
I made a phone call and asked the director of the unit what to put in the cupboard. The answer is consumables, and now it can't fit in a cabinet. I remembered it then.
After I came back, I went to the scene to have a look. I really couldn't put it down, a cabinet of consumables!
Then I checked the entry and exit records of consumables and found that there are many consumables recently, but they are rarely used. Just ask why, the answer is that the product may still be made in the last process (the materials will be sent out together with the materials, including consumables, and there will be a time in the process).
Then I checked this type of model I was making, and found that the quantity was small, and there were too many consumables in the cupboard to be used up.
Then I report to the supervisor of the unit, explain the problem and ask for confirmation.
Half a day later, the results came out. When the data of the project is established, the consumption of this consumable is one zero less after the decimal point, and then everyone can calculate that it is 10 times more, not only on the site, but also in the warehouse.
At this time, we held an emergency meeting to discuss countermeasures. Fortunately, we found that the materials were not out of date in time. Through purchasing efforts, we reach an agreement with suppliers and make the action of making up after returning goods (that is, returning goods, not refunding money to us, and sending them back to us free of charge until they are used up). If it is found too late, it will definitely expire. By then, it will be too late.
Well, the case is closed. You can see the importance of details. Of course, it was accidental, that is, I saw the purchase requisition. But if I don't care about asking if I see it, I won't find the problem in time and deal with it. This matter will not be discovered until the final production is completed, but there are many materials. At that time, it was too late.
Some people will say that you are too generous, and you still buy cabinets. It is out of the question. This is not a story. Okay, let me talk about the root cause. Everything put on the production line (big, landing) is planned by our IE. We know exactly how much and where to put it. Now we suddenly need one more. Of course you should be concerned.
So the details should also be accumulated on the basis of usual.
Tip 7: Go out of the office, go to the scene and go among the people.
In this regard, the specific understanding is as follows: Many people think that the work of engineers is technical, mainly for public office, making plans or technical documents.
However, there is a kind of thing called "Sanxian", which is the scene, the present thing and the reality. In fact, everything comes from the front line. If you leave the front line and take care of things in your office behind closed doors, there will often be many problems when things are really implemented.
So if you have a chance, you should go to the front line to learn more about the situation.
For those who are still studying, if they want to engage in this industry in the future, it is recommended to take advantage of the holiday opportunity to participate in actual combat; It doesn't have to be IE's job. It can be anything you are interested in. Mainly from the perspective of IE, you will find a lot of things that you can't understand in school. Comments and opinions are welcome.
Tip 8: Leadership is leadership.
IE people may only position themselves as assistants at the beginning of their career, simply dealing with some working hours, standard procedures, layout and so on. After a period of time, they will find that if the work is just like this, it seems too boring, and they suddenly fall into confusion. In fact, the most critical factor is that we have not positioned ourselves clearly, or your boss has not brought your functions into play. In either case, you may lack a key skill: leadership.
In our course, there is a course called project management. In fact, this is a very good course, which can teach us how to improve our management ability.
When IE is working, as long as there is a project that can only be implemented in cooperation with other units (it seems unnecessary), then the lead unit must be IE. At this time, the project implementation is good or not, which has a great relationship with the leaders; The word leadership, simply put, is to let ordinary people make extraordinary achievements. If we lack leadership, the progress of the project will not be satisfactory.
Skill 9: Be responsible for cooking holiday meals (if you can't cook, coordinate the outing activities of the company or department).
When I saw a post about cooking, I would like to take this opportunity to explain that the cooking mentioned here is not necessarily done by myself. The key is to make arrangements, management and confirmation.
There are two main advantages: one is needless to say, it can hone your project management ability; The other is that you can interact with other people, and IE will cooperate with people in any unit at work. In other words, I often work in a team, so I usually do more cooperative exercises. Everyone is familiar with it and can play a role at a critical time. Practice hard when you have the chance.
Skills 10: Listening (being a super listener)
Listen to the opinions of all parties.
As an IE practitioner, at work, I often have to deal with different people in various units. At this time, listening becomes very important. Listening here is not only to have a good attitude to face opinions from all sides, but to be able to absorb the strengths of various units. As we all know, in a company, IE personnel do not have the quality specialty of QC unit, the engineering design ability of RD unit, the production arrangement ability of PC unit and even the production skills of MF unit.
Then what shall we use to organize the improvement of these units?
One of them is the ability to integrate all parties. Although it is not complicated, it can handle general affairs. For example, we can communicate with R&D on quality control and manufacturing convenience in the development process. Communicate with quality assurance department on the improvement of manufacturing problems and material problems; Communicate with production management on production arrangement, production capacity and delivery date. Generally speaking, few people in one unit can communicate with other units at the same time. To have the above abilities, the usual accumulation is essential. Never let go of any information at ordinary times. Reports from various units may be a relatively good source of information. In addition, in some meetings, it is best to indicate important matters related to other units.
