AE and AF divide the rectangular ABCD into three parts with equal area. Known BC is 9cm, CD is 6cm, what is the area of triangle AFE?
The total area of rectangle ABCD =9*6=54.

So the areas of the three parts are all equal to 54/3= 18.

E falls on BC, then s △ Abe =1/2 * ab * be =18.

AB=CD=6, so BE=6, CE=BC-BE=9-6=3.

F falls on the CD, then s △ ADF =1/2 * ad * df =18.

AD=BC=9, so DF=4, CF=CD-DF=6-4=2.

S△CEF= 1/2*CE*CF=3

S△AEF=S quadrilateral AECF-S △ CEF =18-3 =15 (square centimeter)
