Huai 'an Rose Garden is located in the southeast of Chuxiu Garden, bordering the zoo in the west, covering an area of 4.9 hectares. It is a professional rose garden integrating production, scientific research and appreciation.

Huai 'an rose has a long history. According to the records of Liu Chuanzhuo (Chinese rose spectrum) in Qing Dynasty, Huai 'an rose flourished in the early years of Tongzhi in Qing Dynasty, and was widely planted between Huaiyang, with exotic flowers and many varieties. Chen Zhi's Ornamental Tree Science records: "The planting of Chinese rose began in Qinghuai, Jiangsu Province, and gradually spread to the north and south of the Yangtze River." In the long-term cultivation and breeding, Huai 'an has preserved many ancient rose varieties. 1986 65438+February, with the approval of the Municipal People's Congress, the traditional flower of Huai 'an people-Rose was designated as the city flower. At the end of 1986, rose garden construction was started, and rose varieties were widely collected and introduced.

1988- 1989 twice invited experts from the province to preliminarily identify the rose varieties in the auxiliary area. 1992- 1993, invited 7 experts from China Rose Association to re-identify. Among more than 500 rose varieties, 238 were renamed, 22 were modern rose varieties and 22 were ancient rose varieties in China, making it the earliest rose garden in China with the largest number of ancient rose varieties preserved.

By the end of 1992, the Rose Garden had established production infrastructure such as greenhouses and plastic greenhouses for exporting roses, with strong technical backbone and advanced production and reproduction technology, forming a certain production scale, which pioneered the export of large seedlings in China Rose Garden.

1993 has been designated as one of the eight centers of Chinese rose. By the end of 1997, Huai 'an Rose Garden had become a flower base in Huai 'an, and the office of Jiangsu Traditional Famous Flowers Committee was also located here. Now it has a central base of 4 hectares, 10 more than 30 hectares, modern greenhouse equipment of more than 400 square meters and steel pipe shed of more than 2,000 square meters, more than 500 varieties of modern Chinese roses at home and abroad, and more than 20 varieties of ancient Chinese roses in China, ranging from green seedlings, greenhouse flowers, potted plants and foliage plants.

There are more than 30 employees in Rose Garden, including college graduates with junior titles or above 15, 20 middle and senior gardeners and 3 technicians.
