The ultimate goal of teachers' continuing education should be to establish the concept of lifelong learning and master the learning methods. Some people say that the purpose of teacher training is to "improve the overall quality of teachers, meet the needs of basic education reform and development, and comprehensively promote quality education". But this is not the ultimate goal. "How to make education adapt to the future work when the future work changes cannot be completely predicted" is a problem to be solved in lifelong education and should also be solved in continuing education.
Teacher training, fundamentally speaking, is to replace lifelong education with lifelong education. Therefore, no matter in the content and means of training, we should not only consider the short-term needs of teachers, but simply solve the problem of how to teach. Starting from the long-term needs, we should establish modern educational concepts and advanced educational ideas through training, master scientific learning methods, and benefit teachers for life. At the same time, we should cultivate noble teachers' professional ethics and be teachers with noble morality and proficient business in the new era. However, this short-term and long-term contradiction is not easy to reconcile. Influenced by examinations at all levels and teachers' evaluation indexes, even by school evaluation, training institutions, teachers themselves and even education administrative departments have to consider short-term interests. Second, courses that are useful for teachers' long-term interests are often ignored. Therefore, teacher training institutions at all levels should carefully design and try their best to find a balance between short-term and long-term when considering teacher training.
