NYU Shanghai (NYU Shanghai for short), located in Pudong New Area of China, is a full-time Chinese-foreign cooperative undergraduate college jointly founded by new york University and East China Normal University and approved by the Ministry of Education. It is a member of the Chinese-foreign cooperative university alliance.

Nyu shanghai was approved to be established on 20117, and the foundation stone was laid in Lujiazui financial and trade zone on March 28th of the same year, and it was listed on 20 12 15, and the first batch of undergraduates was held in August of 20 13.

In March, "Innovating the mechanism of Sino-foreign cooperation in running schools and speeding up the construction of nyu shanghai", as an important part of the "National Experimental Zone for Comprehensive Education Reform" jointly established by the Ministry of Education and Shanghai, was included in the key work of the Shanghai Municipal Government. On March 28th, the signing ceremony and foundation laying ceremony of NYU Shanghai Cooperation Agreement was held. The Ministry of Education and Shanghai leaders attended the ceremony.

Yu Lizhong, the former president of East China Normal University, is the first president of nyu shanghai, Jeffrey Lehman, the former president of Cornell University and the first dean of Peking University Transnational Law School, is the executive vice president, and Wang Xiaojing, a professor of neurobiology at Yale University, is the provost.
