Can civil servants take part-time jobs?
Civil servants are not allowed to take part-time jobs.

For civil servants, in principle, one person and one post are required. One person and one post can ensure that civil servants concentrate on their own work. A person who has several jobs will have multiple working relationships and multiple identities, which will easily lead to contradictions and confusion in management. Of course, in principle, the requirement of one person and one post does not completely exclude the part-time job of civil servants. Under some special circumstances, civil servants may be allowed to work part-time upon approval.

However, if civil servants work part-time in enterprises or profit-making organizations, China's civil service law explicitly prohibits them. Item (14) of Article 53 of China's Civil Service Law stipulates: "Civil servants must abide by discipline and shall not engage in the following activities: engage in or participate in profit-making activities and hold concurrent positions in enterprises or other profit-making organizations."

Civil servants need to meet two conditions for taking part-time jobs: first, they must be approved by the relevant authorities; second, they must not receive part-time remuneration. Therefore, it is useless to do part-time work like this. The purpose of prohibiting civil servants from taking part-time jobs is to ensure their normal performance of official duties without affecting their impartiality. However, if civil servants are engaged in academic and public welfare part-time jobs, it is still possible, but it is strictly forbidden for civil servants to work part-time in for-profit institutions.

The direction and occupation of civil servants' part-time jobs cannot be profit-oriented, otherwise it will be illegal and not worth the loss.
