One of the research directions of this discipline is translation theory, which is the traditional feature of French language and literature major in Nanjing University. Historically, the brilliant achievements made by Professor He Ru and Professor Chen Zongbao in this field are still praised by French-speaking circles in China. Professor Xu Jun, the current academic leader, inherited and carried forward this tradition and made extensive and in-depth discussions in the fields of basic translation theory, translation criticism and translation culture research. He presided over 9 international cooperation and provincial-level projects such as the Eighth Five-Year Plan, the Ninth Five-Year Plan and the key projects of the Doctoral Program Fund of the State Education Commission, and won the national and provincial-level outstanding achievement award 13 times. Among them, Literary Translation Theory and Practice-Translation Dialogue systematically combs the translation thoughts of the older generation of translators and makes an in-depth study of literary translation. The monograph "On Translation" brings together the author's painstaking efforts for decades, and makes a detailed, systematic and comprehensive study and exploration of the theoretical problems of translation, which has produced great repercussions in the domestic translation circle. In 2006, he won the second prize of outstanding achievements in the 9th Philosophy and Social Sciences in Jiangsu Province, and in 2009, he was selected as "Academic Works of Nanjing University with Important Influence since the Reform and Opening-up". At the same time, Professor Xu Jun also combined translation theory with practice, and the translated Collected Works of Duras (Volume 16) won the first prize of the fifth national excellent foreign literature book. Professor Xu Jun holds social positions such as vice-president of the National French Literature Research Association and member of the Scientific and Literary Committee of the International Translators' Union, which has a certain influence on French literature research and international translation research. In addition, Liu's Studies on Translation Criticism, China's Studies on the Translation and Reception of Modern Literature in France, Zhang Xiaoming's Studies on the Translation and Reception of roland barthes's Literary Theory in China, and Cao Danhong's Translation Poetics are also quite distinctive.
