The American Quality Association (ASQ) has special quality inspector certification.

Registered quality inspector (CQI)

A registered quality inspector refers to an inspector who has the necessary knowledge and industry experience and can pass the certification examination. With the support and guidance of quality engineers, supervisors or technicians, inspectors can use the proven technologies in the knowledge outline in a responsible manner. Under the guidance of professionals, quality inspectors evaluate hardware documents, carry out experimental procedures, check products, record data and prepare formal reports. Requirements: To apply for the quality inspector certificate, you must have 2 years of practical work experience in mechanical inspection or related fields, technical secondary school education or GED (general education). If you have no secondary education or GED, you must have 3 years of additional relevant work experience. There are at least two CMI exams every year, in March and 10 respectively.

Details can be found on ASQ's website.
