The school was founded in February of 1959, formerly known as Beijing Textile Vocational and Technical College, and was affiliated to the Ministry of Textile Industry. 1961July was renamed Beijing Chemical Fiber Institute. 1987 was rebuilt and expanded into Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology. 1998 transferred from the Ministry of Textile Industry to Beijing as the main manager.
