The organization and implementation of the census can be roughly divided into three stages: census preparation, registration review, data processing and publication.

1. The preparatory stage of the census

In the whole census process, the preparation stage has the largest workload and the longest time. It takes 4-6 years to complete the census in many countries in the world. The preparatory work for the census in China mainly includes census legislation, establishment of census institutions, formulation of census plans, census forms and work rules, formulation of work plans, pilot projects, division of census areas, reorganization of household registration, selection and training of census takers, publicity work and preparation of materials.

2. Registration and review stage of population census

The main work at this stage is to register every household and person within a certain date according to the provisions of the census plan, and then conduct a comprehensive audit of the registered information. Compared with the other two stages, this stage has the shortest working time, generally less than 15 days, and the largest number of participants. This is the most critical and important stage of the census, and it is also the basis for obtaining accurate information. Any mistakes at this stage can't be made up in the future work.

3. Census data processing and publishing stage

The research stage of data collation and analysis is the harvest stage of population census. The census takers registered all kinds of information of each household and individual on the census form through the registration audit, or we obtained the microscopic data of the national population. These data are further collated and processed into macro data that can reflect various population conditions in the whole country and even in various regions for use by the government and all walks of life. The work at this stage does not need the participation of every enumerator, but is mainly undertaken by various professional and technical personnel. The work at this stage mainly includes coding, summarization, data evaluation, data publishing and printing, analysis and research, summary and so on.

5. When is the standard time for the sixth national census?

The sixth national census program stipulates: "The standard time of census is 0: 00 in 2065438+0: 00 in 65438+0: 00 in 065438."

The so-called standard time of the census is to specify a time point. No matter which day the enumerator registers, the registered population and its various characteristics reflect the situation at that time. 6. Where should the census object be registered?

The sixth national census program stipulates: "The census adopts the principle of registration according to the current residence. Everyone must register at their current place of residence. If the census object does not live in the place where the household registration is located, the corresponding information shall be registered at the place where the household registration is located. "

Specifically divided into the following situations:

1. The census object lives in China at the census standard time.

(1) Persons whose current residence is the same as their registered residence are only registered in their current residence.

(2) People whose current residence and domicile are different should register the corresponding information at the domicile in addition to their current residence.

(3) Persons with undetermined household registration shall be registered at their current residence.

(4) Persons without a fixed address shall register at their place of residence at the standard time of the census.

(5) Overseas personnel shall register at their current residence.

2. If the census object works or studies abroad at the standard time of the census, it shall be declared and registered by the family households and collective households who lived abroad.

7. What method was used in the registration of the sixth national census?

The sixth national census program stipulates: "The sixth national census will be inquired by census takers and filled in on the spot."

8. How many forms are there in the census form of the sixth national census?

The census table is divided into the short table of the sixth national census and the long table of the sixth national census. 10% of the families were selected to fill in the long list of census forms, and the short list of census forms was filled in by the rest of the families. There are 45 items in the long census form, including 17 items filled in by families and 28 items filled in by individuals. In addition to the short list of items, it also reflects the migration and flow of population, health status, employment status, women's fertility status and housing situation.

There are 8 items in the death population questionnaire, which reflects the basic situation, education level and marital status of the dead population one year before the standard time of census.
