Zhoukou City, known as Longdu and Chen Zhou in ancient times, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Henan Province. It is located in the southeast of Henan Province, in the hinterland of Huanghuai Plain, with Fuyang City in Anhui Province in the east, Luohe City and Xuchang City in the west, Zhumadian City in the south and Kaifeng City and Shangqiu City in the north.
Zhoukou City now governs 10 counties and cities, including Fugou County, Xihua County, Shangshui County, Taikang County, Luyi County (directly under the provincial government), dancheng, shenqiu county, Xiangcheng City, Chuanhui District and Huaiyang District, with a total area of 1 1959 square kilometers and a permanent population of 90260.
Zhoukou is a city with rapid industrial development. There are more than 300 industrial enterprises above designated size/kloc-0. Zhoukou City enjoys convenient transportation in all directions, and the traffic of roads, railways and waterways is interwoven into a network, forming a trinity traffic pattern of roads, railways and waterways. Zhoukou is a big agricultural city. Rich in agricultural products resources, it is an important large-scale commodity grain and high-quality cotton production base in China. Zhoukou is a big city of cultural tourism resources.
With a splendid civilization history of more than 6,400 years, it is one of the important birthplaces of Chinese civilization and enjoys the reputation of "Pioneer of China and Holy Land of Kyushu". Fuxi, the ancestor, established his capital here, and Laozi, Chen Sheng, Guangwu, Yuan Shikai and Ji Hongchang, the hero, were all from Zhoukou [13]. The surrounding water resources are abundant and the groundwater quality is good. Zhoukou is rich in biological resources, with more than 70 species of plants/kloc-0 and nearly 80 species of animals. Precious biological species include Zhoukou yellow cattle, Huai goat, Huaiyang donkey and so on. White-flowered paulownia, high-mouth cherry, aged pear, etc.
