Xinjiang Vocational College of Architecture is the only full-time public vocational college of architecture in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Founded in 1973, approved by the people's government of the autonomous region in 2002, it was formed by the merger of Xinjiang University of Building Workers, Xinjiang Building Materials Industry School and Xinjiang Urban Construction School.

In 2006, with the approval of the people's government of the autonomous region, Xinjiang Institute of Building Technicians was established, and the 34th national vocational skill appraisal institute in the autonomous region was established. It is a multi-level engineering college integrating ordinary higher vocational colleges, technical secondary schools, technical schools, correspondence undergraduate courses, industry continuing education and skill appraisal.
