Does China have troops in the Middle East?
Chinese peacekeepers is deployed in the Middle East.

The presence of China soldiers in the Middle East is mainly concentrated in two aspects: one is to participate in United Nations peacekeeping operations, and the other is to provide military support for peace and stability in the Middle East.

With regard to United Nations peacekeeping operations, since the 1990s, China has sent more than 33,000 military personnel and 1000 police officers to participate in 24 United Nations peacekeeping operations. Some of them are deployed in the Middle East, such as Lebanon, Syria and Iraq. The main tasks of peacekeepers in China are to maintain local peace and stability, protect the safety of civilians and assist in the implementation of humanitarian assistance.

In addition, China has established military cooperation relations with some countries in the Middle East, providing them with military equipment, technical support and personnel training to help them improve their self-defense capabilities.

These cooperation projects mainly focus on counter-terrorism, intelligence, communications, naval escort and other fields. It should be noted that China's military presence in the Middle East is aimed at maintaining regional peace and stability and promoting friendly cooperation among countries, not at intervening in regional conflicts.

Background of peacekeeping forces:

The United Nations peacekeeping force is a special cross-border force established in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions. The first United Nations peacekeeping force was established during the Suez crisis in 1956. Entrusted by the United Nations General Assembly or the Security Council, it is active in areas with international conflicts.

Soldiers of peacekeeping forces wear sky-blue helmets or blue berets with the abbreviation of "UN" on them, and the armbands are decorated with the pattern of "Earth and Olive Branch". Anyone who participates in the United Nations peacekeeping forces must receive special training in the training centers of the four Nordic countries, be familiar with the functions, purposes and tasks of the peacekeeping forces, and conduct special military training.

1In April 1992, the China Army sent an engineering brigade consisting of 400 officers and men to the United Nations Interim Authority in Cambodia, which was the first time that our army sent a formed unit to participate in United Nations peacekeeping operations.
