Introduction to Guangxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Guangxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine was founded in 1956, 197 1 and merged with Nanning Medical College. Two medical schools formed the new Guangxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. At present, our school is the only independent college of traditional Chinese medicine in five ethnic autonomous areas in China, and it is also the only undergraduate and postgraduate training institution in Guangxi with the characteristics and advantages of traditional Chinese medicine and ethnic medicine. Guangxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine has developed into the only institution of higher learning of traditional Chinese medicine in the whole autonomous region, which focuses on traditional Chinese medicine and has many disciplines such as medicine, science, engineering and management. A university education system with undergraduate education as the main body and postgraduate education as the focus has been established, and foreign students' education, higher vocational education and adult education with clear levels and reasonable educational structure have been developed. It has a high level of teaching and medical treatment, a strong "Industry-University-Research" strength and good school-running benefits, and has distinctive characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine and Guangxi ethnic medicine. It is the largest and most powerful comprehensive base in our region for training Chinese medicine and ethnic medicine talents, industrial research and development, integration of Chinese and Western medicine, training and continuing education of licensed Chinese medicine practitioners, licensed pharmacists and Chinese medicine practitioners. In 2003, Guangxi College of Traditional Chinese Medicine was the first university in the whole autonomous region to receive the excellent undergraduate evaluation from the Ministry of Education, and also the first Chinese medicine college in western China to receive the excellent undergraduate evaluation from the Ministry of Education.

There are currently 19223 registered students in our school, including 8208 full-time undergraduates,140 graduate students and 232 international students. There are 22 master's degree programs, 5 doctoral training cooperation programs and 23 undergraduate programs. The school has 6 key disciplines of traditional Chinese medicine in state administration of traditional chinese medicine, 9 key specialties in state administration of traditional chinese medicine, 4 third-class laboratories of traditional Chinese medicine research in state administration of traditional chinese medicine, and has "golden resources" units of science and technology in the autonomous region and key laboratories in the autonomous region. At present, it has undertaken 452 scientific research projects such as National Natural Science Foundation, Ministry of Science and Technology, state administration of traditional chinese medicine and Guangxi Science and Technology Department. In the past five years, the average research funding was 69.0295 million yuan, and in 2009, the research funding was 93.9356 million yuan. In the past five years, scientific research achievements have won 30 awards at or above the provincial and ministerial levels, including 2 first prizes for scientific and technological progress of the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Our school is an institution of higher learning determined by the Ministry of Education to recruit overseas Chinese, Hong Kong and Macao students and accept foreign students. Up to now, nearly 1,000 foreign students majoring in Chinese medicine have been trained for more than 20 countries and regions, and "Guangxi Manual Medicine School" has been established in Singapore. At present, 80% of international students come from ASEAN countries and regions.
