According to the latest national vocational guidance requirements, metrology workers belong to national special jobs and must hold national vocational qualification certificates. The measurement certificate can only be obtained in the vocational training base under the State Administration of Quality Supervision, and it is a valid certificate.

According to the concept of GB/T 19022, all relevant personnel in the metrological management system can be regarded as metrological personnel, including full-time or part-time metrological administrators, internal auditors of metrological management system, metrological verifiers/calibrators, metrological verifiers, quality inspectors, chemical analysts, material testing and nondestructive testing personnel, safety inspectors, environmental monitoring personnel, energy metrological management personnel and meter readers.
All surveyors must be qualified by professional training, have the ability and qualification, and hold relevant certificates. This qualification must be approved in writing by the human resources management department of the organization. The human resources management department should confirm their ability when recognizing their post qualifications. When confirming the post qualifications of some personnel, they must have competency certificates (such as inspector certificate, flaw detector certificate, chemical analyst certificate, etc. ) after passing the training, it will be issued by the government or industry management agencies. Registered Metrologists refer to professional technicians who are engaged in metrological verification, calibration, inspection, testing and other metrological technical work, have obtained the qualification certificate of registered metrologists of corresponding grades through examination, and are engaged in metrological technical work within the prescribed scope after being registered according to law. The English of registered metrology engineer is Certified Metrology Engineer, so it is abbreviated as CME.
The Ministry of Personnel and the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine announced the launch of the qualification system for national registered metrology engineers. Only professional technicians who have passed the examination and obtained qualification certificates can become registered metrology engineers. Registered Metrologists are formally incorporated into the unified management of national vocational qualification certificates.
