First of all, because drift is a racing sport that can measure the driver's skills, rather than the horsepower of a car (in contrast, the technical requirements of short-distance sprint from 0 to 0-400 m are not high), driving technology is the essence of drift, and the quality of drift technology can only be measured by one word: manipulation. In the drift, through the type, level and application of technology, it is the standard that can distinguish novice and professional drivers! And this measure can distinguish the driver's skill as clearly as letting a rusty harvester compete with WRCar. Moreover, regular drifting requires drivers to have a variety of skills, and there are few tutorials or guides to help drifting enthusiasts improve their skills!
So far, let's not talk about too basic things, such as experiencing and learning how to make tires slip and improving steering wheel control skills. Why? Because even drift drivers who are just getting started have some basic driving skills!
For most drift learning, we also divide these technologies into four levels: novice, intermediate, expert and professional. More importantly, these technologies will be used in any level of drift, so the level depends on what the driver knows, not what to use!
Remember, there are many skills that need to be improved, so I hope you can enjoy it in the process of increasingly mature technology learning, and don't be depressed because you are stuck in a difficult technology!
How can I drift without slipping? Still skidding ~ ~ No, there is no drift, at least not yet ... But it is very important to try to use the handbrake to turn at a low speed to cultivate basic judgment ability, judge the degree of skidding of the car on dry land, grass (because it will go around the track) and wet road, make your body a sensitive skid sensor, and predict the planned parking degree, time and orientation. These two things are early.
Mr. Nomura Chien, the driver of D 1GP, is a good example. First, he turned around at 180 degrees and kept practicing, then practiced around the witch hat (the plastic cone used for construction can be used without use), turned 90 degrees with the handbrake, and then kept his body moving and accelerated to the next witch hat ... and so on.
Until you can skillfully make a semi-circle U-turn with the handbrake without stopping, and then continue to accelerate to leave, during this exercise (see the right), you can approach the witch hat at a speed of about 40km, step on the clutch and don't let go, enter the first gear, and pull the handbrake to let the rear of the car begin to slide. Remember, when the handbrake is up, never release the handbrake button (the top button)! When the car skids halfway, release the clutch, put down the handbrake and open the throttle to accelerate! This is not as difficult as it sounds. Because this is the most basic and simple technology, it is also called "precursor drift".
With a little practice, you should be able to do a few laps around the witch's hat without stopping your movements and knotting, and then you can smoothly restore the grip of the tires and speed up your departure! The so-called loop knot refers to making the trajectory of the car walk like a coil, mostly because the time and angle of the return direction are not well grasped!
Using the throttle to make the car sideslip is one of the foundations of drift, and almost all cornering and cornering in the drift process use this technology called "Power Out" or "Power Over" by Japanese drivers. This technology will be encountered in all automobile sports, from formula to tension, this part of the training should be carried out. Although the purpose of training is different, we all attach great importance to this technology. If we don't pay attention to the training of this technology, we will never break through the primary stage of drift technology.
Here are some positioning of the essence of this technology: the rear wheel slips by the power brought by opening the throttle (this is very simple); Through the opening and closing of the throttle and the control of the direction and the opposite direction, the side slip angle of the car body is also balanced and adjusted (this is a bit difficult); Weakening or keeping the throttle opening can just restore the grip of the tire, and all this needs to be done in a smooth process (which will become difficult to master at high speed).
In a typical power action, the whole drift process can be roughly divided into two parts, from a small angle to 180 degrees. Theoretically, slow down the car and let it pass through the first half of the lane until it reaches the vertex of the corner of the moving lane. Generally, the car is in the middle of the whole curve at this time, and then in the state of acceleration, the second half of the curve is completed by power output and control in the opposite direction. The actual operation method is about 10, which will be in the "curve, learning curve (below). However, with the continuous evolution of drift technology, a good driver can make the car sideslip before entering a corner (generally in a long and wide corner that can pass at high speed), accurately use throttle control technology and attack angle (see the right picture), use the lateral friction of tires to slow down, or use deceleration to cause steering transition and power output. These are the hard parts to deal with!
Reverse itself is a technology. Too late will cause the car to spin, too early, the side slip of the car will suddenly be forcibly contained. Remember, make sure the steering wheel rotates smoothly (don't "slow down") and keep your eyes on the direction you want to go, because your hand holding the steering wheel will turn in that direction!
Don't be discouraged by failed attempts and frequent mistakes in practice. Because in these failures and mistakes, you will gradually accumulate the feeling that any drifting skill needs, a feeling that you can deeply understand where the limit is!
