The national list of essential drugs is the basis for medical institutions to equip and use drugs, including basic medical and health institutions and other medical institutions. Drugs in the list of essential drugs refer to drugs that meet the basic medical and health needs, have appropriate dosage forms, are reasonably priced, can guarantee supply, and can be obtained fairly by the public. China has implemented the national list of essential drugs since September 2, 2009.
In September, 20 18, the total varieties of the revised national essential drugs list increased from 520 to 685, including 4 western medicines17 and 268 Chinese patent medicines.
On the basis of covering major clinical diseases, we will focus on diseases such as tumors, childhood diseases and chronic diseases. The new varieties include 12 kinds of anti-tumor drugs, 22 kinds of drugs urgently needed by children in clinic, and the world's first and only new drug recommended by WHO for the treatment of hepatitis C, all of which are oral, pan-genotypic and monolithic.
The list of essential drugs is not just a list, its use will lead to changes in medical services and medical insurance reimbursement. Different from the previous version of the catalogue, in principle, all localities cannot supplement drugs on the basis of the 20 18 version of the national catalogue. The reason is that the basic drug system has achieved full coverage in government-run primary medical institutions, and allowing local replenishment of drugs is a transitional measure in the early stage of system construction. Relevant opinions are clear, and drugs are no longer added in various places.
Classification of basic medical insurance drugs in China
The basic medical insurance drugs in China are divided into two categories. Class A refers to drugs that can guarantee the basic treatment needs, and these drugs can be paid from the basic medical insurance fund.
Class B refers to drugs that can enjoy partial payment. The payment process is that employees have to pay a certain percentage of their own expenses first, and then use the medical insurance fund to pay the expenses according to the standard. Drugs in the drug list are divided into western medicine, Chinese patent medicine and Chinese herbal pieces.
