Wang Zhongshan is currently teaching at China Conservatory of Music, and concurrently serves as the Secretary General of Guzheng Society of China Musicians Association and the Secretary General of Guzheng Professional Committee of China National Orchestral Society.
In addition to teaching, he also participated in various large-scale performances, provided music for many film and television dramas, and visited Southeast Asia and Europe. He has many new ideas on guzheng playing skills and put them into practice. For example, in 1986, at the "First National Guzheng Academic Exchange Conference", he pioneered the use of the round finger technique, took the lead in playing with four nails in his left hand, and developed the multi-fingering and left-fingering techniques, which made the guzheng look brand-new. At present, some new forms of performance have been popularized in the guzheng major of various art colleges in China, which shows the broad prospects and vitality of these new techniques.
At the invitation of Hongkong, Taiwan Province Province, Macau and Beijing, Changsha, Shenyang, Urumqi, Changde, Xiangfan, Dalian, Qingdao, Donggang, Datong, Linyi and other places, he held many solo concerts and academic lectures to promote the art of guzheng. He also published Wang Zhongshan Guzheng Music Collection and recorded several performance albums in cooperation with Hongkong Long Yin Production Co., Ltd. ..
His artistic achievements were interviewed and introduced by People's Daily, Beijing Evening News, Music Weekly, Music Life and overseas newspapers. CCTV, china national radio, Beijing Music Station and other propaganda media have also repeatedly played his music such as Ai Shan and Han Shui Yun, and made special presentations. His artistic life has been selected in China Music Essence and China Dictionary of Contemporary Music Celebrities.
