Tangshan, referred to as "Tang" for short, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Hebei Province, one of the central cities of Hebei Province approved by the State Council, a new industrialization base and port city around Bohai Sea, located in the east of Hebei Province, northeast of North China Plain, bordering Bohai Sea in the south, Yanshan Mountains in the north, adjacent to Beijing and Tianjin, and located in the throat of North China and Northeast China, with a total area of 13472 square kilometers.
