5W 1H was developed from the "5W analysis method" put forward by American political scientist lasswell, and was first used in the management of enterprise production projects.
5W+ 1H helps the selected project, process or operation by asking six questions: what, why, where, when, who and how.
Let's take a look at how the 5W 1H analysis method is used in enterprise production, and then I will give two examples related to personal development.
1) object (what)-what is it?
What products does the company produce? What spare parts does the workshop produce? Why do you want to produce this product? Can you produce anything else? What exactly should I produce? For example, this product doesn't make money. How about changing it to a more profitable one?
2) Where-where?
Where does the production take place? Why do you have to do it in this place? Can we go somewhere else? Where the hell should I do it? This is something to consider when choosing a workplace.
3) time and procedure (when)-when?
For example, when did this process or component dry? Why do you do it at this time? Can we do it another day? Can you bring the post-processing to the front? When should I do it?
4) Personnel (who)- person in charge
Who did this? Why let him do it? If he is irresponsible and angry, can he be replaced by someone else? Sometimes, with new people, the whole production will improve.
5) Why-Why
Why use this technical parameter? Why can't there be changes? Why not use it? Why does it turn red? Why do you want to make this shape? Why use machines instead of manpower? Why do you have to do it?
6) How to do it
Means are also process methods, such as how do we do it? Why are you doing this? Is there any other way? What the hell should I do? Sometimes when the method changes, the overall situation changes.
Every aspect of the problem can be asked in four levels: what is the current situation, why, whether it can be improved and how. This will form an analysis table:
Two application examples
5W 1H analysis method can be used not only in enterprise management, but also in personal daily life and work. I give two examples of personal growth: achievement event analysis and goal setting.
5W 1H Achievement Event Analysis
Achievement event analysis can help us find out what we like and what we are good at. But without a framework, we can only talk about the impression of an event and can't comprehensively summarize and analyze it. So I slightly changed 5W 1H as our analysis framework.
Look at the modified 5W 1H first.
1) What, describe what the achievement event is.
What is it? Do you have anything similar? What is the connection between these things?
2) Where, analyze the correlation between achievement events and places.
Where was it made? Why do you have to do it in this place? Can we go somewhere else? Where should I do it?
3) When, when
When did this happen? Why at this time? Can we make it another time? When should I do it?
4) Who and with whom
Who did it with? Why do you want to do it with him? Can you change a group of people? What kind of people should I do with?
5) Why: Why?
Why are you doing this? Why do you have to do it? Why is there a sense of accomplishment?
6) How: How to do it
How is it done? Why are you doing this? Is there any other way? What on earth should we do? What knowledge and skills did you use to do it?
Then we'll see how this works.
Take my achievement event of "getting the first payment for my junior year" as an example. The analysis of 5W 1H is as follows:
Matter: I published my first essay in China Youth and got 100 yuan.
Among them: writing in the school dormitory; It can be anywhere quiet.
When: 200 1 year; Any time is fine, there is no special requirement.
Who: yourself; If you want to publish continuously, you must establish a stable relationship with the editor.
Why: I like writing; Can express a sense of value
How to: Write an article, send a letter or send an electronic manuscript. If you have contact with the editor, you can submit it directly to the editor.
After such analysis, we can find that:
I value the recognition of others and long for respect.
I have the ability to write, and I am willing to gain achievements and recognition through writing.
I like to see my articles published in public media, such as magazines and newspapers.
With these discoveries, maybe my future development direction will be there. As you can see, I am doing these things now.
Use 5W 1H to clear the target.
Every year, we use SMART rules to set practical goals, but the difficulty we encounter is that we can't use SMART rules or use them wrongly.
For example, what is the meaning of "s, Specific" in intelligent rules? What is the specific definition of the goal? Many people can't tell the difference.
In fact, this concretization can be defined as 5w1h. As long as a goal meets the following 5W 1H, it must be specific:
What: what is the goal to be achieved and what is the measurement index.
Why: Why do you want to set this goal?
Where: where to accomplish the goal.
When: When will the goal be completed?
Who: Who is involved in this goal?
How: What can I do to achieve my goal?
Taking weight loss as an example, the 5W 1H analysis is as follows:
What: The goal is to lose weight, and the measure is to lose 30 pounds.
Why: I want a slim figure and improve my personal image.
Location: gym, home, park.
Time: 2065438+July 3, 20091.
Who: myself and my husband.
How: Run 5 kilometers every morning and eat fruit at night.
This analysis, the goal is very specific?
Have you figured out how to use it?
By memorizing six words, we have a framework that can help us quickly analyze a project, product and goal, find problems and find the direction of improvement.
It is strongly recommended that you find a thing, a goal, a task and an analysis in your work and life.
