Seafarer's certificate application process
To apply for a crew card, you must first go through the training examination organized by the Maritime Safety Administration before you can apply. This paper will introduce in detail the application process of seaman's certificate and the materials to be prepared.

Application process

The process of seaman's card processing is as follows: prepare relevant materials, issue a valid seaman's medical certificate in the local hospital, and apply for seaman's card with the above materials at the local issuing authority.

Materials to be prepared

The materials to be prepared for handling the seaman's certificate include: the seaman's certificate application form, the original seaman's service book and its copy, the seaman's competency certificate or its copy for international navigation (including special routes), the applicant's recent photo of electronic certificate, and the proof that citizens are prohibited from leaving the country according to laws and administrative regulations issued by local public security organs.

Classification of seafarers

Seafarers are divided into senior seafarers and ordinary seafarers. Senior crew members are divided into management level and operation level, and the operation level includes second mate, second tube wheel, third mate and third tube wheel. Ordinary seafarers are also called auxiliary classes, including boatswain, foreman, Yishui, Ershui, mechanic, chef, clerk and so on.

Application conditions

To apply for the seafarer's competency certificate, one should be at least 18 years old (at least 16 years old in ship internship or trainee), and the first application should not exceed 60 years old, which meets the occupational health requirements of seafarers and receives basic safety training for seafarers. The crew of an international sailing ship applying for a certificate of competency shall also pass the professional foreign language examination for seafarers.
