Xi 'an Conservatory of Music was founded in 1949, and its predecessor was "Music Department of Northwest Art School" founded by Marshal He Long in 1948. In May of the following year, he crossed the Yellow River with the troops and moved to Xi 'an, which was named "Music Department of Art College of Northwest Military and Political University". 1950 was renamed "Music Department of Northwest Art Institute".
1953, adjusted to "Music Department of Northwest Art Institute" (adding a three-year secondary art school); 1956, the department of music and fine arts was established separately, and the music department was transformed into "Xi' an Conservatory of Music"; Xi 'an Conservatory of Music was founded in 1960. 1980 With the approval of the State Council, Xi 'an Conservatory of Music was re-established, which is the only higher music institution in northwest China. Xi Conservatory of Music is an independent professional conservatory with complete professional categories and strong teaching strength. The college now has four undergraduate majors: musicology, composition and composition technology theory, music performance and dance choreography, and ten undergraduate teaching units: vocal music, orchestral music, folk music, composition, musicology, music education, piano, dance choreography and solfeggio, and basic department. There are 4000 undergraduates in the school.
