Dongguan University of Technology is the first city-based undergraduate college in Dongguan, with Dr. Yang Zhenning, winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics, as honorary president. The school was established in 1990, approved by the former State Education Commission in April 1992, and changed into a full-time undergraduate college with the approval of the Ministry of Education in March 2002.
