College was founded in 1962, and 1969 was merged into Northwest Normal University. 1978 restored independence. At present, there are ten departments of Chinese, mathematics, physics, chemistry, education, foreign languages, politics and religion, music, fine arts and physical education, two courses teaching departments and modern educational technology center. Gansu Institute of Education is an institution of higher learning developed by successive Party and government in Gansu with the support of the national education department for more than 50 years.
