Generally speaking, you don't need to apply for n5 in Japan. Because the content of Japanese n5 is the simplest basic Japanese grammar and words. However, the level of Japanese n5 and n4 is similar, and it is easy to rise from n5 and n4 to n3. It is better to apply for n5 and n4 with a little effort and directly apply for n3. There is a big gap between n3 and n2, and if Japanese companies don't have high requirements for Japanese, n2 will do, and Japanese for postgraduate entrance examination is close to n2, so it is more useful to apply for n2, which is also the largest number of applicants every year. In China, people who apply for n 1 are basically clear, mainly majoring in Japanese, and they have to take n 1 for work reasons. Generally speaking, not many people apply for n 1. Therefore, in the Japanese proficiency test every year, people who take n2 are basically the most, and those who take n3 and n 1 are close, while n5 and n4 are the least.
Take New Japanese as an example. The first volume of New Japanese is equivalent to the n5 level of Japanese, with a vocabulary of about 1400. The standard of Sino-Japanese communication, New Japanese, Volume 1, is equivalent to n4 level of Japanese, with a vocabulary of about 1550. The intermediate level of the new edition of Standard Japanese for Communication between China and Japan is equivalent to the second level of Japanese, with a vocabulary of about 4700. At present, there are few textbooks of Japanese proficiency in China.
