The PLA Army Special Operations Academy is a higher education institution in the field of special operations and intelligence reconnaissance. It is a training base for reconnaissance special operations personnel of the whole army, a training center for senior and intermediate snipers of the whole army, a training center for military sports personnel of the whole army, and a research and innovation center for special operations theory and tactics training.
The school can be traced back to Jireliao Military and Political Cadre School, which was founded at the beginning of the Liberation War, the third branch of Erye Military and Political University, which was founded at the end of the Liberation War, and the specialty of reconnaissance and special operations command of the Institute of International Relations, which was opened at 1978. On July 20 17, the former Special Operations College and Guilin Comprehensive Training Base merged to form the Army Special Operations College.
