Wenzhou University is the only comprehensive teaching and research university in southern Zhejiang, northern Fujian and eastern Jiangxi. It is located in Wenzhou and is called the best in the southeast of China.

The school was formed in 2004 by the merger of Wenzhou Normal University and the former Wenzhou University. After the merger of two schools and the integration of seven schools, the school can be traced back to Wenzhou Normal School as early as 1933.
